Allison Speer has recently started a weekly devotional for www.absolutelygospel.com. It’s fantastic! Being a young wife, mother, radio host and part-time SG artist I find myself SO busy! I must confess that too often I only scratch the surface in my daily devotions. Allison’s devotional has been thought-provoking to say the least. I know she is just as busy (if not more) as I am…so I am extremely grateful that she has taken the time to write! Allison, this young woman is going to sit at your feet and glean from your wisdom every week!

Can you tell Spring is just around the corner? I stepped outside on Thursday and I couldn’t help but thank our Heavenly Father for the beautiful weather! In fact…the Taylors are going to be in concert at Russellville Baptist Church in Forsyth this Saturday (March 10th) at 6pm. I love the Taylors! I’m sure you love a good SG concert just like I do! I love the fellowship, the music, EVERYTHING! Although…I never feel like my favorite artists come to this area enough   That’s why I wanted to share this with you…

Have you been wanting your church or ministry to hold a concert? Maybe you think that it isn’t feasible because of the money. But what if you partner with another church or ministry? It’s so much easier on the budget and if you partner with a larger church (ministry) maybe you can hold it at their venue. I believe partnering makes things simpler and you can see your favorite artist in concert! So why not suggest this to your church today?

Speaking of concerts…you’ve probably heard the Whisnants on Southern Majesty. They’re going to be in concert at Tift Avenue Baptist Church in Tifton on February 19th and the concert starts at 6pm. I really like their sound and I think you will too. Check it more info at www.whisnants.com

Let me start by saying…I’m sorry! It’s been way to long since I’ve updated this blog! But I’m back…and I’m looking forward to updating you on what’s happening in SG music.

The past 7 months have been crazy! My husband and I welcomed our first child (a son) on July 12th, 2011. Canaan is so much fun! We love watching him grow…although he seems to be doing it way too quickly I feel like I’m looking at the world through different eyes ever since I became a mother. I truly love it!

Hey…do you remember the Crabb family? They disbanded a few years ago but all of them have still been involved in SG music. Well they have come together to release a brand new CD! Have you attended any Southern Gospel concerts yet this summer? The last one I attended was the Akins concert in May. So I think I’m due to attend another one soon!

I was looking at Wes Hampton’s website recently. I love to keep myself informed with what the GVB is doing, etc. They’re actually on summer break but it sounds like all of them are doing solo concerts. Wes posted a couple of unreleased GVB tunes that were recorded for the “Lovin’ Life” CD that was released in 2008. Wes edited them a little…I think you’ll really enjoy them. Summer has arrived and you can definitely tell by the heat! I can’t believe how quickly the temperatures have risen. I remember just thinking a few weeks ago how nice the weather was and I was hoping that would mean a cooler summer. Oh well!
